2026 QUALIFYING EXAMINATION
The 2026 Qualifying Examination was administered January 26 –February 4, 2026, to approximately 230 candidates. The following is a list of successful candidates. These candidates will be eligible to challenge the 2027 Oral Examination.

2026 ORAL EXAMINATION
The 2026 Oral Examination was held April 27 – May 1, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The following periodontists served as examiners for the 2026 Oral Examination. The Board is grateful for the commitment and dedication of all the examiners who served this year.

ORAL EXAMINATION CASE SUBMISSIONS
A newly established Task Force on Oral Examination Case Submissions is inviting submissions of cases and vignettes for the oral examination. If you have a strong case or vignette to contribute, please contact the ABP Office to request the submission template.
NCRDSCB LIFELONG LEARNING MANDATE
The National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards (NCRDSCB) is an independent body associated with the ADA that oversees the recognition of dental specialties and specialty certifying boards. In 2022, the NCRDSCB amended the language of an article governing their board operations that was subsequently adopted by the ADA House of Delegates. The change mandates that dental specialty certifying boards require all Diplomates to engage in lifelong learning and continuous quality improvement. The ABPerio Minute continuing certification platform is the ABP’s response to this requirement. Continuing certification assures the public that Diplomates continue to meet the standards of the specialty and assists Diplomates in maintaining their knowledge, skills and clinical judgement. Longitudinal assessment incorporating the principles of adult learning keeps Diplomates current on developments in the specialty and facilitates patient safety and outcomes.

The ABP is pleased to offer several products to promote your Diplomate status.
The Diplomate tri-fold brochure is ideal for display in your reception area and provides your patients with useful information about the value of seeing a board-certified periodontist. Brochures are available in a standard format, or, for a small additional, one-time fee, may be customized with your information. For the customized version, you may add your office contact information on the back of the brochure. You may also replace the cover photo with your own high-resolution head shot photo, or you may opt to add both customization options to the brochure. For more information, contact the ABP Office.

2026 ELECTIONS – DIRECTORS OF THE ABP
The ABP encourages all Active and Life Active members of the Academy to review the qualifications for ABP Director and to cast a ballot in the annual Academy elections. Diplomates interested in running for ABP Director may access more information on the Academy’s website. Information on ABP Nominating Committee positions may also be obtained from the AAP or from your District Trustee.
