Gen You
When we first met Demetrius Flood in 2024, he was a dental student beginning to chart his path in periodontics. Today, he’s a third-year resident at the University of Washington and preparing to take the next step in that journey.
A lot can change between the first day of dental school and the final stretch of residency. Along the way, Dr. Flood has continued to develop his clinical skills, build relationships within the periodontal community, and build his vision for the future.
This past August, he joined fellow third-year residents in San Antonio for ARRive, the AAP’s second resident retreat. We caught up with Dr. Flood following the retreat to reflect on the experience, what residency has taught him, and how his plans for the future may have evolved since we last spoke.
Watch the interview below to hear about the next chapter of his journey.
