AAPF Seeking Practice Ambassadors
This year the AAP Foundation will be working to build upon the success of its Student Ambassadors program with a new corps of Practice Ambassadors. This professional development and networking opportunity is appropriate for any team member in periodontal or dental practice, from an owner or senior clinician to an associate, hygienist, or office manager. Spouses of periodontists are especially encouraged to join the program, whether their role in the practice is formal or informal. The Practice Ambassadors will be the Foundation’s liaisons for existing programs like PerioDash and Disaster Grants, advisors on the development of new initiatives to support periodontists in private practice, and partners in raising public awareness of periodontal disease and the importance of treatment. Ambassadors will be invited to attend two or three virtual meetings throughout the year and one in-person gathering at the AAP Annual Meeting each Fall. Please email [email protected] to nominate yourself, your spouse, or another member of your practice team to serve as your Practice Ambassador.
Disaster Grants Awarded to Fire and Hurricane Victims
In addition to its better-known grant programs supporting students, teachers, and researchers, the AAP Foundation is proud to have long provided Disaster Relief Grants to AAP members in private practice who suffer property damage from natural disasters. In January of 2025 the Foundation provided grants to periodontists who suffered damage to their homes or practices, on the East Coast during Hurricane Milton last year and in the Los Angeles area in the recent wildfires. Please contact [email protected] for program details if you or a fellow AAP member are in need of support following a disaster.
