August 2024 Board of Trustees Meeting

The AAP Board of Trustees recently met in Chicago this past Aug. 9 – 10. One of the most important things that take place at these meetings are the discussions about various topics affecting our profession. Topics at this past meeting included dental anesthesia, engaging social media influencers, how to effectively provide clinical guidance to practitioners, and the role and responsibility of being an elected fiduciary.

Here are some of the highlights we’re most excited about:

  • Approved the 2025 annual budget which includes funding to continue to the Dental Hygiene Engagement Initiative and funding for the inaugural Resident Retreat for rising third-year Student members.
  • Approved revised terms of use for AAP Connect. This coincides with the launch of a new and improved platform which will connect you with members around the globe while simultaneously making it easier to learn about updates in your home district.
  • Ratified the selection of participants for a collaborative workshop with the European Federation of Periodontology.
  • Officially endorsed a partnership with the Canadian Academy of Periodontology, the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, and/or the Ontario Society of Periodontology for the 2025 Annual Meeting in Toronto.
  • Approved the distribution of a new insurance-related member resource titled Claim Attachments at a Glance.

Academy of Osseointegration Consensus Conference
